New garden bed update

Yea, looks strange and bare now but will fill out in a few months. In a few years several of the bushes will be big and it will looks spectacular. In the top photo I put in a service berry shrub(just to the right of the curved path at the top)  but right now it is more like a stick and hardly shows up. This year I put in a lot of castor bean plants that will look nice. They love the heat and this bed gets lots of sun. Not sure if the hostas already there will fair well but they do get shade on that side somewhat. time will tell huh?

The pot beside the hose reel? It has Green pepper plants in it. The large pot near the garage has the first yellow calla lily bloom. They are always so perfectly formed, they look fake. I also found a yellow poppy. Oh yes..I do color co-ordinate my front flower beds. White, yellow and red flowers only.

Butter popcorn plant

Here is the new plant I got recently. The flowers and leaves (when rubbed) smell just like butter. The flowers smell more like buttered popcorn....amazing.

And there is nothing wrong with him?

I just read this article about this guy who says he is all ok but just wanted to walk. Quit a very good secure job and planned to just walk.

Adventurer leaves NY career

I have been reading about this type of thing for several years now. People just up and going for a long walk. Some with a goal and some to protest something. But more and more..some just to do it.

Sorry...I don't buy that a normal, rational person would just up and give up their whole life to do that.

Maybe we live a too fast paced life to be able to cope and some just have to slow down in their own way. Seems like an ideal life...to depend on the kindness of strangers like they have to.

Do you think this will become a life style others will choose? Or is this one already. After all...we do have the homeless and more and more all the time.

A couple years ago I personally worked at a church that was part of a rotating homeless shelter and I was shocked on the people that came. Most had jobs and several had kids. One family had a child and both parents worked. I wondered why they were at a shelter and they said they paid for child care and had nothing left over to pay for a home. I also wondered why those with jobs did not ban together and get an apartment. Many even had the audacity to complain about the food, the accommodations and the things donated for their comfort..like not being enough shower/shaving supplies. HA...they expected these things.

I though they had a lot considering it was free to them. They were provided a supper each night cooked and donated by a church member. A clean pallet and pillow to sleep on, taken to a local school to shower and their clothes washed for them by volunteers and returned in the morning. Then breakfast and a packed lunch. To be repeated every night for a week and then a different church took up the tasks.

I talked with many of the people to hear their story and was wondering WHY they chose this life but then it dawned on me. They had all the basic life's comforts for free ...no hassles with bills. Some even complained when the free bus tickets someone donated ran out. I thought...gosh..what gaul!

I know some people do fall on hard time and need help, but the hard part for me is why people choose this way of life.

Anyway...this story reminded me of that experience and I came to the conclusion that some  are getting lazier and expecting more than their fair share without contributing. And this guy walking is just a new breed of dong just that....taking NO responsiblity and wanting a care free life.

Geezzz..go live in the jungle and stop sponging.

If I had guts...

If I had guts and were oh about 30 years younger I would love to do this hair on me.

I think it so strange parents are so set against kids doing this to their hair. After all..it will grow out and it will let them show their creativity and personal style in a way that is not permanent. To not allow this makes them more apt to want a tattoo or piercing. At least my opinion it does. Kids have to feel they can buck the establishment and if allowed this way...maybe it will stop the other not so good ways to do it.

The web is forever

I sometimes think people do not think when they post things on the web. Or when they step in front of a camera. I myself am very careful what I post and what pics I put here. Maybe some pics are not very good of me but at least I won't hate myself years down the road. But if I decide to pose for a pic like the one below and have the audacity to post it...shoot me please! I deserve it. I wonder what in tarnation was going thru her mind when she posed for this..let alone what made her make it public. I guess some people will do anything for a lark huh?

Back from tenn

Hi all,
Sorry for not posting but I have been busier than a cat trying to bury his pooh on a marble floor.
The trip to Tn went fantastic but gosh..I brought home a tick...ewwwwwwww.

I am still battling a cold and sore throat which now turned into an ear infection.  Umph....hate late spring colds.

But soon I will be posting regularly again...hang in there.

Snowball bush

Ahh...even my snowball was full of blooms this year. The best ever. And the azalea is still in bloom and the combo make the front sparkle.

Yellow Irises

They came out spectacular this year. Bigger than 2 fists.

Drama and colds 2

Geeezzzzz.z...Blogger is not letting me post text and pics together recently. And when I do get it to let me type, it makes it all underlined like a link.

I have been fighting a cold this week which has left me just not wanting to post.

Tomorrow our drama group is performing. We have 3 skits. Gary is in all 3 and I am in two. Today was dress rehearsal and I sure hope tomorrow goes better. We were a bit rough today. I will try to post some pics of the cast.

In one Gary is Dan Cupid and I interview him. The next he plays an answer machine in "modern Technology" and the third is "Ladies at lunch", Gary plays the manager and I am one of the ladies.

This is Gary's first time and he is very nervous and he tends to take things a bit more serious than I do. I just am finding it fun and not nervous at all.

Update on grey hair 2

GRRRRRR...blogger was being a bugger this morning and I could not add text to previous pics. In fact..it would not even let me upload one pic I wanted. Same format too.

I took pics all over the house and even had Gary take a few. After I did some editing I could not decide which I like best. So I figured..hey..my blog...post them all hehehehehe.

I actually like my hair BETTER gray than the shades of blond my hair became after I was in the pool or outside. Dying it was  a pain and I never knew from day to day what color it would be. I think it was a blessing in disguise though,,the yeas of coloring it. I was blond so much that the grey has more color and doesn't look so washed out. I did put on a bit of makeup which I dont normally wear and it is hard to see myself with lipstick. But with the play this Friday I needed to try my hand at it again. I did hope it was not all dried up. I wear it soooo seldom anymore.

I took pics in all different lights with diff camera settings and as you can see the grey pretty well in some.
I still have a bit of the old color to come off. It is pretty dark yet near the bottom back which blogger would not let me upload. another time then.

All in all..I am pretty happy with the color and intend to not dye again. No more mess!!!! wheeeee.

I am gonna change my blog pic..which do you think is best of me? I myself am leaning to the first one even though a bit blurry.

Update on grey hair

Shy? Lonely? New to an area? A good idea.

I ran across this great website. Or at least it seems like a great idea to me. Fortunately for me I have a fantastic local Senior center that has tons of groups to join but for those that don't have that around or are not senior age...well..this sounds like just the ticket. A site to find groups in your area. NOT a dating site...a friends or couples site.

brighter...maybe

A bright note.....I decided to try and beat the rain and wheeeeee....I did..barely.

I had some transplanting to do and since I got up so early I thought I might try to do a bit so the rain will wet down what I transplanted. I got in all that a friend gave me and moved some things of my own and while I was putting in the very last....it started to sprinkle. I was done and in a happy mood.

Now...to shop and make myself happier......hehehehe

That kind of day

I can just feel it will be that kind of day
        and I don't mean
 in a good way.

Stump ornament

I had intended a gnome to go on this stump but hubby was not too happy about it so we both agreed on this greenman head. Since I collect greenmen...a nice new addiction.

In dappled light

Here is the azalea in full bloom mid-morning. The yellow flowers next to it is Leopard's Bane.
A nice combo that blooms at the same time. Actually the Leopard's bane has been blooming for over a week though.

Hungry Mama

YEOW. It rained last night but I still has some yard work I could do but...the darn mama mosquitoes would not let me. I was trying to make small fences for my raspberries to keep them from attacking Gary when he mowed the grass but for some reason..the mosquitoes love the berries and thought I was a buffet. I tried being on the patio but they found me.... too big a target maybe?  lol.

Oh..blogger went back to old way of inserting pics. I guess no one understood the new way. Took me a few moments but I finally had it figured out. Oh well..it is still free so I won't complain.

Very Odd phenomenon

I got up early this morning, oh about 4:30 am. I looked out the window to see how many of my solar lights lining the walkway were on. Only one was on. Then about 6:30 am we got a thunder storm complete with lightening. I glanced out the window and saw two more of the lights on and went to look at the others and WOW...all 8 were lit up. The storm lasted about 10 minutes and went I went to check on them, only 3 were on. It is still fairly dark at 7 am and the lights are usually not on in the morning. Makes me think more about the energy in lightening.
